Alumni

Q-Kidz isn't about just the current team.  Q-Kidz alumni are an important part of the Q-Kidz family...for life!

We love when our alumni come back and share their stories -- of how Q-Kidz helped them become who they are and get where they are going.

And we love it when the join in a dance practice or help support a dancer.

Once a Q-Kid, Always a Q-Kid.

If you are an alumnus of Q-Kidz and would like to share your story, please send a current picture and your story to quicy@q-kidz.org.

If you'd like to give back to Q-Kidz, please join other Q-Kidz alums in helping to sponsor a current dancer or make a recurring monthly donation.

During my time with Q-Kidz I learned what true sisterhood meant. It was a major part of my childhood and gave me opportunities I’ll always cherish. Through Q-Kidz, I was able to travel for the first time, develop leadership skills, and create lifelong friendships. One of the best parts is that, even today, I still keep in touch with my dance sisters from those years. Ms. Quicy continues to pour into us and support us, even as adults, which speaks volumes about the impact she has made on our lives.

Growing up in an inner-city community, Q-Kidz gave us something positive to look forward to. It wasn’t just about learning routines, it was about scholarship, sisterhood, discipline, accountability, and having high expectations for ourselves. We were constantly encouraged to do well in school, carry ourselves with confidence, and strive for more in life.

Aunt Quicy has always been a pillar in our community. She was someone we could talk to about life, our challenges, and our goals. She genuinely cared about the young people she mentored. I experienced that firsthand when she opened her home to me so I could commute to school more easily because it was closer than where my family lived. That level of support went far beyond what anyone would expect from a dance coach.

The lessons I learned through Q-Kidz stayed with me long after my dancing days were over. The values of hard work, perseverance, leadership, and community helped shape the woman I am today. I went on to earn both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and I am now a business owner. While my success is the result of many influences, Q-Kidz played an important role in helping me develop the confidence, discipline, and mindset needed to pursue my goals.

Q-Kidz isn’t just a dance team, it’s a village, a support system, and a foundation for so many young girls. I am forever grateful for the impact it has had on my life and for the countless lives Aunt Quicy continues to touch. Now, seeing my daughter experience that same sisterhood, is a full-circle moment for me.
